HEIGHT: | 2 - 20 feet | SPREAD: | 2 - 12 feet | DISTINCTIONS: | Similar to Japanese yew but size and shape variable depending on cultivar; needles dark green above, lighter beneath; moist, well-drained soil; sun or shade. | LIMITATIONS: | Subject to wind burn and spider mites; red fleshy berries are poisonous. | HARDINESS: | SC, SE (Zone 4) | ORIGIN: | A hybrid species developed in Massachusetts. | CULTIVARS: | ‘Hicksii’ Hicks yew; columnar form, upright branches; hardier than Irish yew; male and female clones; 20' tall.
