HEIGHT: | 15 - 30 feet | SPREAD: | 5 - 8 feet | DISTINCTIONS: | Species has irregular, columnar habit; tolerates cold, wet soils but grows well in upland soils; most attractive in its natural environment. | LIMITATIONS: | Can look sparse and unattractive in a landscape; slow growth. | HARDINESS: | INT, SC, SE, W (Zone 2) | ORIGIN: | Central, interior, and western Alaska and into Canada from the northern limits of trees south to British Columbia, Manitoba, Minnesota and New Jersey. | CULTIVARS: | ‘Fastigiata' Narrow columnar form, supposedly grown at Versailles in 1915; 'Golden' broad, upright form; blue-grey needles with yellow cast on top; 10'-25' tall and 10' - 12' wide.
