SPREAD:10 - 15 feet
DISTINCTIONS:Similar to A. arborea but with new leaves purplish to bronze and are not pubescent; leaves green in summer then yellow, orange and red autumn color; white flowers on long 2” racemes; sweet edible purplish black fruit that draws birds; full sun to partial shade; tolerates a range of soils.
LIMITATIONS:Can be a host for apple (serviceberry)/cedar rust; susceptible to leaf spot.
HARDINESS: SE (Zone 4)
ORIGIN: Newfoundland to Georgia and west to Kansas.
