DISTINCTIONS:Upright, arching branches; fragrant, pale lilac flowers; small, bluish-green leaves; profuse small clusters of flowers; sun; pH 6.0-7.5; no seed capsules produced; suckering.
LIMITATIONS:Intolerant of poor drainage; prone to powdery mildew; susceptible to lilac leaf miner in SE; no fall color.
HARDINESS:SC, SE (Zone 3)
ORIGIN:Hybrid, perhaps S. afghanica x S. laciniata
CULTIVARS:‘Alba’ white to rose pink flowers
