DISTINCTIONS:Compact growth, rounded form; fragrant, lilac purple flowers often in pairs at the end of twigs; sun; pH 6.0-7.5; produces few seed capsules; deep maroon to purple fall color; non-suckering.
LIMITATIONS:Susceptible to lilac leaf miner in SE.
HARDINESS:SC, SE (Zone 3)
ORIGIN:Northern China
CULTIVARS:‘Miss Kim’ purple buds opening to paler flowers; grows to 6' tall and 5' wide.
