SPREAD:20 - 25 feet
DISTINCTIONS:Needles dark green with a silvery underside; purplish cones at maturity; popular Christmas tree.
LIMITATIONS:Not tolerant of wind; susceptible to air pollution damage; prefers acidic, moist, well-drained soils; shade tolerant, especially as young trees, but grows best in full sun.
HARDINESS:SE, SC (Zone 4)
ORIGIN:Mountains of southeast United States.
