DISTINCTIONS:Upright, rounded form; the bark on the older stems peels in ornamental papery strips; tolerates wet soil.
LIMITATIONS:Not reliable in INT and needs winter protection, especially when young.
HARDINESS:INT, SC, SE (Zone 2)
ORIGIN:Quebec to Virginia, Michigan and Tennessee
CULTIVARS:‘Dart’s Gold’ compact form, 4’-5’ high and wide; foliage yellow to yellow-green.; ‘Diablo’ reddish purple foliage.; ‘Nanus’ dwarf, 2'-3' tall; small dark green leaves.
