DISTINCTIONS:Upright spikes of white flowers in summer, fragrant; decorative seed pods; yellow to orange fall color; tolerates salt, wet soils and shade; good in acid soils.
LIMITATIONS:Susceptible to spider mites on dry sites; can sucker and colonize.
HARDINESS:SC, SE (Zone 4)
ORIGIN:Eastern United States
CULTIVARS:‘Compacta’ and ‘Hummingbird’ compact forms to 3’ high.; ‘Pink Spires’ and ‘Ruby Spice’ pink and rose colored flowers.
