DISTINCTIONS:Stately oval, medium sized tree; smooth gray fluted bark; leaves are similar to birch, but with poor yellow-orange fall color; pendulous fruit clusters; withstands pruning, often used as hedge; tolerates a wide range of soils and grows in full sun to full shade.
ORIGIN:Europe, Asia
CULTIVARS:‘Columnaris’ upright form reaching 25’ high and 8’ wide.; ‘Fastigiata’ upright pyramidal form to 30’ high and a width of 20’; ‘Pendula’ weeping form reaching 30’ high and 35’ wide, great specimen.
