HEIGHT: | 20 - 30 feet | SPREAD: | 10 - 20 feet | DISTINCTIONS: | Small rounded tree; leaves are almost star-shaped with five lobes, red when they emerge and glossy green in summer; yellow, orange, red fall color; tolerant of urban locations and dry soils; adaptable to alkaline or acidic soils. | LIMITATIONS: | None; few plants in Southcentral Alaska. | HARDINESS: | SC, SE (Zone 4) | ORIGIN: | Northern China, Russia, Japan, Korea | CULTIVARS: | ‘Norwegian Sunset’ and ‘Pacific Sunset’ are Acer truncatum and A. platanoides hybrids.
