HEIGHT:35 - 50 feet
SPREAD:25 - 40 feet
DISTINCTIONS:Pyramidal in youth; spreading and becoming irregularly shaped with age; tolerates dry sandy soils; needles in clusters of 2; .75"-1.5" long. Appears to be less preferred for moose browse than lodgepole pine.
LIMITATIONS:Needs well-drained soil; northern seed source important for hardiness; grows in Fairbanks in only the warmest locations.
HARDINESS:INT, SC, SE (Zone 2-3)
ORIGIN:North America; nearly reaches the Arctic Circle in Canada and grows south to northern Minnesota and New York.
