HEIGHT: | 2 - 4 feet | SPREAD: | 3 - 6 feet | DISTINCTIONS: | Most commonly available shrub form of Norway spruce; dense and spreading; nest-like shape, lower in the center than on the outside edges; very slow growing; tolerates some shade; excellent shrub for south central and southeast where old specimens can be 5 feet tall; loses bird's nest shape with age. | LIMITATIONS: | Bird's nest shape ruined if a branch suffers die-back; needs winter protection in Fairbanks and on windy sites | HARDINESS: | INT, SC, SE (Zone 3) | ORIGIN: | Found in Germany in 1904. | CULTIVARS: | This is a cultivar of Norway spruce.
