DISTINCTIONS:Grows to be a large, suckering shrub. Clusters of small, fragrant, white flowers appear on upright arching branches as deep green leaves develop followed by large, bluish-purple berries that are juicy and edible. Fall foliage is yellow to red.clusters of fragrant.
LIMITATIONS:Can be a host for apple (serviceberry) cedar rust; susceptible to leaf spot.
ORIGIN:Alaska, southern Yukon and Northwest Territories, Canadian prairies and northern plains of U.S.
