HEIGHT: | 30 - 50 feet | SPREAD: | 15 - 30 feet | DISTINCTIONS: | Pyramidal habit, branches silver gray and bend easily; bark is smooth and light grey in youth; 5 bluish-green needles per bundle, 1"-3" long; does well on rocky slopes; brown, resinous cones 3"-6" long; flexes under snow loads; adaptable species; prefers moist, well-drained soil but will grow on dry sites; full sun to partial shade. | LIMITATIONS: | Susceptible to winter injury in interior Alaska; grows in Fairbanks in only the warmest locations. | HARDINESS: | INT, SC, SE (Zone 3) . | ORIGIN: | Canadian Rockies in the north to New Mexico at high elevations. | CULTIVARS: | ‘Vanderwolf's Pyramid’ Upright pyramidal form; ascending branches; twisted bluish needles; good vigor. ‘Extra Blue’ Upright and somewhat columnar tree with powdery blue needles. | _____________________________ Back to List | The information for this Evergreen Tree (4) was last updated on: 2011-01-13 18:42:35 |
