DISTINCTIONS:Dark green needles compact form with semi-erect branches; acidic moist well drained soils; shade tolerant but grows best in full sun; purplish cones at maturity; does better in dry conditions than Abies balsam.
LIMITATIONS:Not tolerant of wind or high pH; susceptible to air pollution damage and deer and moose browse
HARDINESS:SE, SC (Zone 4)
ORIGIN:Mountains of Southeast United States
