DISTINCTIONS:Greenish-white flowers; edible fruit; few thorns; self-fertile; plant in full sun or part shade.
LIMITATIONS:Looks best with rejuvenation pruning; needs good air circulation to prevent powdery mildew; imported currant worm, a sawfly larvae, can rapidly defoliate the entire plant.
HARDINESS:INT, SC, SE (Zone 2)
ORIGIN:Central to northern Europe and northern Asia
CULTIVARS:‘Swedish Black’ large fruit of excellent quality; open, spreading habit; reliably hardy in INT.; ‘Boskoop Giant’ mild flavor; upright habit; produces many fruits.
