SPREAD:15 - 20 feet
DISTINCTIONS:Pyramidal form with single or multiple stems; dark green leaves turning yellow in autumn; outstanding cream white, peeling bark appearing at a young age (best for white bark); year round interest; prefers rich moist acidic soils and full sun; some resistance to birch borer.
LIMITATIONS:Subject to pathogens and insects; can be grafted on B. nigra root stock for increased winter hardiness.
HARDINESS:SE (Zone 4)
ORIGIN:Western Himalayans
CULTIVARS:‘Whitespire’ grows well in Juneau
