DISTINCTIONS:Upright shrub; small white flowers; black fruit 1/3-½" in diameter persist through winter; waxy green foliage with wine red to purple fall leaf color; full sun to partial shade; adaptable to a wide range of soils and moisture.
LIMITATIONS:Spreads by suckers forming large colonies.
HARDINESS:SC, SE (Zone 3)
ORIGIN:Nova Scotia to Florida, west to Michigan
CULTIVARS:var. elata grows 6’-8’ tall; has larger flowers and fruit than parent.
