SPREAD:10 - 20 feet
DISTINCTIONS:Small rounded tree; leaves are almost star-shaped with five lobes, red when they emerge and glossy green in summer; yellow, orange, red fall color; tolerant of urban locations and dry soils; adaptable to alkaline or acidic soils.
LIMITATIONS:None; few plants in Southcentral Alaska.
HARDINESS:SC, SE (Zone 4)
ORIGIN:Northern China, Russia, Japan, Korea
CULTIVARS:‘Norwegian Sunset’ and ‘Pacific Sunset’ are Acer truncatum and A. platanoides hybrids. They have an upright form with excellent orange-red autumn color.
